The Best New Cars Coming Out in 2026

The automotive landscape is more convoluted than ever. You could buy a new model that runs exclusively on fuel, or one that offers electric assist as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid. Or, you could just skip gas entirely and rely on battery power only.

With long-term EV plans being scaled back, many manufacturers are changing course to focus on hybrids and the next generation of internal combustion engines. This means the market will soon look more diverse, with automakers offering a little bit of something for everyone.

Recently, we previewed cars coming out in the remainder of 2025, ranging from V-8 muscle cars to electric SUVs. Now the focus turns to next year.

With that in mind, let's look at some of the vehicles that are set to go on sale or debut in 2026.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Price: $50,000 (est.)

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is one of many models backing away from its all-electric commitment. Although it will sit on the same platform that supports the Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger EVs, the Stelvio is now gearing up to offer gas and hybrid variants when it goes on sale. When that happens, it will see rivals in the BMW iX3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, the latter of which offers multiple electrified options.

Bentley Urban SUV

Price: $150,000 (est.)

Bentley is downsizing (slightly) with a smaller, electric SUV slotted just beneath the Bentayga. For now, the automaker simply calls it its "Urban SUV," but the baby Bentayga should have an actual name before it debuts in 2026 and goes on sale early in 2027. We still don’t know details like price, performance, or range.

BMW 3 Series / EV

Price: $50,000 (est.)

Following the debut of the iX3 electric SUV later this year, BMW will unveil its new 3 Series in 2026—complete with gas and electric powertrain options. Based loosely on the Neue Klasse concept, the new 3 Series will pair dramatic, retro looks with a swathe of gas engines and a fully electric battery pack.

Genesis GV90

Price: $100,000 (est.)

The slow rollout of new Genesis models continues with a full-size all-electric flagship SUV slotted above the Kia EV9 and recently released Hyundai Ioniq 9. The GV90 is likely to be a three-row crossover with streamlined styling and ample interior space for all occupants to stretch out. Expect an elevated price tag when it faces off against the Lucid Gravity.

Lamborghini Revuelto SV

Price: $750,000 (est.)

The first of a presumptive many editions of the V-12 hybrid flagship supercar, the Revuelto SV may push the already powerful supercar into hypercar territory. We expected the SV sometime this year, but recent reports have us anticipating a 2026 launch instead. Either way, expect major aero upgrades to contribute to its bonkers appearance as well as more power. At the very minimum, the Revuelto comes with 1,001 horsepower and commands $600,000 for the privilege.

Mazda Rotary Sports Car

Price: $50,000 (est.)

Mazda is finally building the RX-7 successor we’ve long been waiting for. At least, we think. The company has confirmed that it is indeed working on a new sports car based loosely on the Iconic SP concept from a few years back, and that it will have some form of rotary power. But, the details are still pretty slim, and we don’t expect to see prototypes on the road until at least next year, with the production version showing up either late in 2026 or early in 2027.

Mercedes-AMG GT XX

Price: $150,000 (est.)

Of all the concepts on this list, the Mercedes-AMG GT XX looks closest to production. Details have been released on its tri-motor all-electric powertrain, such as a claimed output of 1,341 horsepower and an estimated top speed of 233 miles per hour. Billed as a “four-door supercar,” the GT XX should have impressive specs to go with its equally impressive price tag.

Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman EV

Price: $80,000 (est.)

Porsche’s first foray into the EV sports car market isn’t going as planned. Despite delays in development, it seems that the mid-engine (mid-battery?) coupe and roadster twins are going ahead, with production of the gas models slated to end before the year is out. Although we wouldn’t be surprised if plans get tweaked, as Porsche has extended the lifespan of the gas-powered Macan.

Porsche Cayenne EV

Price: $100,00 (est.)

Following in the footsteps of the Macan before it, the Porsche Cayenne will get the EV treatment with the production version scheduled for 2026. We could see a version of the electric SUV as early as this year, but Porsche says that the production version won’t arrive until at least 2026. When it does, the Cayenne EV will pack the automaker’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) 800-volt architecture with somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 horsepower.

Rivian R2

Price: $45,000 (est.)

The electric adventure brand expands its lineup for the first time with the introduction of the R2. Slotted below the R1S/R1T utes, the R2 is a boxy compact crossover with a target starting price of $45,000. As with the others, there are countless ways to customize the R2, with the power to choose one, two, or three electric motors for the drivetrain. Rivian is in a more fortuitous position than other EV makers, as it hasn’t experienced delays that impede its launch date in 2026.

Scout Terra / Traveler

Price: $50,000 (est.)

Volkswagen’s newly acquired truck brand, Scout, is back with two models coming soon. The hype is electric, as are the drivetrains that will power a new pickup and a new SUV built on the same platform, similar to Rivian’s R1S and R1T. Giving Scout the edge is a gas-backed range extender that will grow the total distance to 500 miles. We’ll know more as Scout trundles closer to production.

Toyota FJ Cruiser

Price: $40,000 (est.)

The FJ Cruiser soon sees a rebirth, although it likely won’t be the pseudo-retro model last sold in 2014. Previously, Toyota teased the silhouette of a smaller boxy off-roader while patent filings continue to give us hope. We’ll ride this wave of euphoria until Toyota says otherwise. If it follows recent industry trends, the FJ Cruiser won’t be all-electric.

Toyota RAV4

Price: $34,000 (est.)

The RAV4 was the best-selling passenger crossover in 2024. Naturally, Toyota was careful to shake up the formula without redoing the recipe. The sixth-generation RAV4 sports a familiar design to the outgoing model, now joining the Camry in offering a hybrid-only lineup. Plug-in variants will be available once more, while a GR Sport joins the lineup for the first time. In a tariff-eat-tariff world, expect hundreds of thousands of them to hit the streets soon.
