The best looks from the Vanity Fair Oscars 2023 after party

The awards ceremony is fun, but everyone knows the best looks on Oscars night are saved for the Vanity Fair after party, and 2023’s bash was certainly no exception.

Leading the hype for gothic glamour on Sunday night was Billie Eilish, who also took the prize for biggest dress of the night in a billowing black tulle Rick Owens creation. Vampy chic ‘fits also came courtesy of Christina Aguilera in a black velvet gown with a cross-strap, sparkling silver front, Emma Chamberlain who channelled Wednesday Addams in a custom dress by London label Knwls, and Sophie Turner who sported an intricately beaded, black sheer cape gown from Louis Vuitton.

They might not make it to the offical awards, but the new-gen supermodels hold court during the post-celebrations. This year, sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner both made striking statements; the former opted for a tight-fit, metallic effect strapless Maison Margiela gown, while Kendall went through the archives and selected a peacock feather style Jean-Paul Gaultier dress from the SS08 couture collection. Also there was Hailey Bieber in a one-gloved, black Saint Laurent gown, Gigi Hadid in a custom, ruby shade Zac Posen dress, and Kaia Gerber, who was a vision in a crystal covered Celine halter neck frock, alongside her Best Actor nominated boyfriend Austin Butler.

From London, Adwoa Aboah put her spin on black tie in a white Loewe dress with two faux-anthurium flowers on each breast. Cara Delevingne swapped her flowing red awards dress for a tulle wrapped white frock from Del Core, and Naomi Campbell sported a delicate disk dress courtesy of Schiaparelli SS23 couture.

Those daring to bare at the party were lead by Euphoria actress Hunter Shafer, who wore a bias cut cream silk skirt and micro, single feather bralette. The look came straight from the Ann Demeulemeester catwalk, which welcomed new creative director Ludovic De Saint Sernin last season. Daisy Edgar-Jones played into the naked dress trend in a sheer and crystal studded Gucci gown, while Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio wore a see-through, silver chainmail effect dress from Dundas.

While the boys at the awards kept things simple in classic tuxedos, the after party proved an opportunity for greater risks. Donald Glover wore a cut-out grey suit from Alexander McQueen, while Usher opted for all white, with an inverted lapel blazer and starburst, crystal embroidery on one leg.
