The best festival style trends from Coachella 2022

After a three year hiatus, celebrities, influencers and music fans all headed to the desert in Indio, California to kick off 2022’s festival season in standout style.

Gathering at Coachella to watch the likes of Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber and Doja Cat perform, attendees were traditionally outlandish in their dress, as they posed for the perfect picture. And as the British festival circuit creeps up, there was plenty of sartorial inspiration to be found in the 125,00-strong crowd that turned out.

On stage, there was one clear fashion highlight: Harry Styles and Shania Twain’s duet, as the pair gave their all to the hit Man! I Feel Like A Woman! Both glittered, with Styles opting for a metallic disc, multicolour jumpsuit by Gucci, as Twain sparkled in a seventies style sequin mini dress from British brand Halpern.

But if you think the showgirl style might be a little much for Glastonbury, here are the best looks at Coachella you can channel with ease:

Popping Pink

Thanks to Valentino’s AW22 Paris runway show, 50 per cent of which came in monochromatic electric pink, the all-out highlighter shade looks took over the stages and seeped into the crowds this year.

American singer Conan Gray did it best, wearing a sheer flowing Valentino top with matching high waist trousers, pink platforms and opera gloves to perform hits like his TikTok-famous tune Heather.

Elsewhere Omar Apollo took to the Outdoor Theatre stage in another Valentino ensemble, his a more toned-down look of baggy shirt with matching pink trousers constrasted with a white tee.

And in the audience, festivalgoers could be seen giving the trend their own spin – one man rocked a bright pink twisted crop top paired with cut-out trousers and a crystal fringe, baby pink cowboy hat.

Dazzling Denim

Plain jeans will not cut it in 2022 – the denim at Coachella came eye-catching and embellished.

One attendee found a two-piece set from US brand Eugina, which came covered in pearls and was paired with extra pearl strings stacked up around the neck and waist.

Brazilian singer Anitta followed suit, wearing jeans covered in candy colour, diamanté checks, while on the stage rapper Princess Nokia wore hers low-waisted and covered in playful prints, including cartoon characters and butterflies. Added flair came in the form of multiple crustal studded belts wrapped around her waist and ankles.

The Vest

The true staple this year was the plain white vest, rocked by all genders. Kendall Jenner lead the way at a Revolve party, wearing hers cropped with white linen trousers and her hair in braids.

Singer Maggie Rogers also opted for the super-cropped style whilst performing, and British rising star Holly Humberstone wore a full length vest with matching white trousers and punk-style New Rock boots.

Mika commited to the vest look during his set too, adding a graphic heart on the front to mix it up. He was joined by the likes of Finneas and actor Gavin Leatherwood who also backed the look for boys.

White Out

If boho chic festival style is the aim, you can never go wrong with a flowing white dress or jumpsuit – preferably sheer or crochet.

And at Coachella, this was a clear hit amongst the “It” girls. Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio did the look effortlessly in a cut-out, white knit flared jumpsuit, which had crystal embellishments on the top.

Paris Hilton also joined the club in her body suit with flowing white lace skirt, while singer Caroline Polachek performed with Flume in a similar lace dress.

Polachek finished off the outfit with a pair of fluorescent yellow wellies – perhaps not needed on Coachella’s mainstage, but not to be forgotten if you’re packing for an English festival this summer.
