The best and worst away fans to visit St James' Park in the Premier League

Away supporters are no longer the most vocal inside St James’ Park. During the back end of Mike Ashley’s reign, supporters’ apathy towards the club was conducive to a flat atmosphere inside the stadium.

There is no shame in admitting the travelling supporters regularly out-sung the Toon fans but, since last October, the scales have tipped. Wor Flags’ pre-match displays since the £300million Saudi-backed takeover have proved the catalyst for a rejuvenated home crowd who have raised the decibel levels in recent months.

Optimism for the future is higher than ever and being embarrassed by away fans is a thing of the past. However, Newcastle have been on the receiving end of some poor performances at home this season - giving rival fans plenty of fuel to be jovial up in Level seven.

Most of these showings came in 2021, with Cambridge United and Liverpool the only sides to beat the Magpies on their own patch this year. ChronicleLive wants to know who our readers rank as the best and worst travelling support in 2021-22. Please use our widget below to have your say.
