The beautiful sunflower fields tucked away in the Welsh countryside you might not know about

People love a sunflower farm. Just seeing row upon row of those yellow petal heads reaching for the sky is somehow life-affirming and calming. Walking amongst them is one of the most zen experiences you can have.

There are a number of sunflower farms across Wales (you can read our guide here in fact) - and they include one particular hidden gem in the gorgeous Brecon Beacons.

Berth-y-Beili Sunshine is a great place to enjoy sunflower fields. Nestled in the Brecon Beacons, the farm and the sunflower fields are surrounded by stunning views. There are 18 acres of them to enjoy and dogs are welcome to sniff around amongst them too. Alongside the sunflowers there are also picnic benches meaning you can bring lunch and have a lovely day out.

Berth-y-Beili Sunshine is open seven days a week, depending on the weather, from 11am to 5pm. The farm will be closed to visitors in bad weather. You can find more information on the Berth-y-Beili Sunshine Facebook page.

The farm is open every day (Richie Harris)

It costs £2.50 per person to visit the sunflowers and the owner of the farm, Richie Harris, told us the sunflowers were just coming into full bloom right now. Richie said he was was inspired by seeing sunflowers on farms in the south of France and wanted to replicate this back home in Wales.

Speaking about his farm being in the stunning Brecon Beacons, he said: "It's brilliant. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." You can keep up to date with the latest What's On news by signing up to the newsletter here.

Richie also spoke about the sunflowers being part of farm diversification and another way for the business to make money. Many farms have had to adopt this approach recently and you can read here about a farm near Cardiff which now sells Christmas trees, sunflowers, and pumpkins.

Berth-y-Beili Sunshine will also be selling pumpkins come the autumn.
