Viewers claimed Alison Hammond was 'ignored' by Ruth Langsford during an awkward moment on This Morning.

During Wednesday's instalment of the popular ITV show, Phillip Schofield was joined by Alison Hammond as she was filling in for Holly Willoughby while she had a day off.

Towards the end of the show, the pair cut to Ruth in the Loose Women studio for a preview on what viewers can expect next.

As the three presenters spoke, viewers tuning in from home couldn't help but take to social media to claim how Alison was 'ignored' by Ruth, BirminghamLive reports.

It comes as born and bred Brummie Alison is set to replace Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes whenever Phil and Holly are unavailable.

Alison and Dermot O'Leary are set to be the new stand-in presenters in a decision which has left Ruth "furious", according to reports.

Alison waved at Ruth, who recently made a dig about starting your career with reality TV.

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were reportedly blindsided by their sacking. They have been on This Morning for 14 years.

The 60-year-old was talking about her career, during which she said: "We've put the work in. We didn't do a reality show and get an overnight job on the telly.

"We've come up through the ranks."

One viewer tweeted: "Ruth speaking to Phil and ignoring Alison on this morning. Awkward."

Another said on the social media website:" Alison waving to Ruth. Awkward #ThisMorning".

"Slightly awkward that Alison is presenting #ThisMorning today and then Ruth pops up on loose women," pointed out a third viewer on Twitter.
