The Alfredo Morelos Rangers weight prediction that leaves Chris Sutton in stitches

Ally McCoist's quip that Alfredo Morelos is "carrying a bit of timber" left Chris Sutton in fits of laughter.

The BT Sport punditry pair were scathing in their assessment of the Rangers striker's downturn in form since the winter break.

McCoist observed that the Colombian looks markedly less mobile since the New Year, having found the net just once in 2020.

That compares poorly to the 28 he struck in the first half of the campaign, but Morelos has retained his place for Thursday night's Europa League last 16 first leg clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

McCoist said: "He's put on about six pounds. He's definitely carrying a bit more timber since he came back."

Sutton queried how his colleague could provide such a precise calculation, as Rangers' record goalscorer admitted his own habit for carrying weight helped him reach a verdict.

McCoist replied: "I'm think I'm fairly confident it will be in and around that region."

His assertion had Sutton and host Darrell Currie in stitches.

And McCoist added: "You did well Darrell, you kept a straight face for so long.

"It has to affect you. I'm honest enough to accept that.

"He looks like he's put on a couple of pounds since he's come back and the fact of the matter is he doesn't look as mobile since the turn of the year.

"And he has to get that back."
