The abandoned garage where classic cars have gone untouched for almost 20 years

An abandoned garage has gained attention after pictures show how it has been 'frozen in time'.

The Jetberg car dealership in Castle Gresley, Derbyshire, has become a point of interest for classic car enthusiasts - and has even been used as a movie set.

According to DerbyshireLive the forecourt is behind a gate, but passers by can still view a number of old cars that would be considered modern classics if in pristine condition.

Cars including a Vauxhall Cavalier, a Rover 820 and a Rover Maestro are pictured covered in dust, as trees and plants grow around them.

While the second-hand cars were relatively new in 2002 when the garage was last known to be operating, they are now clocking up 30 years.

Recently, the site has become a star of the big screen after being used in the 2018 film Pin Cushion.

A classic car enthusiast video, which went viral online, has also been filmed there.

The future of the site is unclear as a planning application exists to demolish the site and build 14 homes.

However, this was submitted to South Derbyshire District Council in 2016 and no decision has yet been made.

A council spokesman said: "We determine the vast majority of applications received within the statutory time frames and this application has been assessed.

"However, progress has been affected by legal proceedings concerning land ownership together with the personal circumstances of the applicant.

"We are looking to reach a conclusion as soon as possible."

Despite the overgrown surroundings, the planning application states the site is NOT vacant and that a retail site, workshop and offices still operate there.

DerbyshireLive has been unable to contact the owner of the site.

Until a decision is made for the site, it will continue to be the subject of fascination by classic car enthusiasts, who have been eager to catch a glimpse of the vehicles which have been seemingly forgotten.

Several years ago the site became an internet sensation after a  video captured by Facebook page Classic Car Daily was viewed more than 300,000 times.

At the time the cameraman showed a total of nine cars on the forecourt.

The camera describes the garage as being in a 'time warp' and akin to a 'car zoo' with the cars there locked behind sturdy iron bars.

More recently, the garage even became a star of the big screen thanks to Swadlincote director Deborah Haywood's feature film Pin Cushion.

The film follows mother Lyn, played by Joanna Scanlan and daughter Iona, played by Lily Newmark, who are excited for their new life in a new town.

Many of the scenes are shot across Swadlincote and Gresley Old Hall.

The two are often seen walking next to the car garage during some scenes - and it even features in a prominent still for the movie.
