The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey - review

Rick Yancey, The 5th Wave

To start with, this book is amazingtremendouslyfantastic. Wow. I cannot express how much I love this book.

I found this book very captivating because it explores the themes of loneliness and family but also losing someone you love, as well as experiencing reading when I was meant to be in bed. A dystopian science-fiction book, I couldn't resist picking it up and such a good choice it was.

One of my favourite thing about this book is how it changes view perspectives, I could really get into the character's head and understand them as a person. My favourite character would have to be Cassie. Cassie is such an inspiration to read about, she lets nothing get in her way of achieving what she wants and she is also a great sister to her brother Sam. I also love Evan, he has many layers, his story is very intriguing and interesting, why can't he be a real person?

The thing I dislike about this book was how little detailed it was. For example normally another author would talk about the small details to build suspense but Rich Yancey would just tell and not show. I suppose the reason why he did this was to make it a fast-paced book but it still bothers me that the little details aren't there for me to read and create an image in my head.

Overall the book has everything you would need in a book. It has over 400 pages but it didn't seem anything like that to me as I was so caught up, it really felt like a 200 page book. Trying not to spoil anything now, the ending was kind of annoying because right now I need the Infinite Sea (the second book in this series) and Rick Yancey thank you for writing this book.

I highly recommend this book to all those booklovers and if you haven't read it - well you should be ashamed.
