Kevin Hart has joined a long line of celebs inexplicably willing to be roasted by comedians for our collective entertainment, and the result was nothing short of jaw-dropping.
Hart was the latest star to willingly jump in the hot seat for Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart, which landed on the stremaing service on Monday and featured a lineup including Tom Brady, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Chelsea Handler, Pete Davidson and Tony Hinchcliffe.

The time-honoured tradition is known for off-colour jokes, but this roast felt particularly controversial. There were even jokes so scandalous that they were cut from the final edit — which is pretty major in the roast-verse.
You may have seen some clips floating around, but we’re sorting through all the most jaw-dropping moments from The Roast of Kevin Hart so you have them all in one place.
Warning: there are some cringe-inducing jokes ahead.
Chelsea Handler & Tony Hinchcliffe trade barbs with each other (and Pete Davidson)
The most shocking roasts came courtesy of Handler and Hinchcliffe, who reserved some time to roast each other before getting into the man of the hour. For his part, Hinchcliffe joked that Davidson’s dad — who died in 9/11 — would be “rolling in his rubble” about his son’s career. But the low-blows didn’t stop there.
Davidson fired back by invoking Charlie Kirk, saying Hinchcliffe and the assassinated right-wing commentator are similar in that they’ve both “been on camera letting a guy unload on their throat”. Jesus…
Handler joined in on the mess by calling attention to Hinchcliffe’s support of US President Donald Trump, saying “Tony is what happens when women don’t have safe access to abortion care”.
“Now that your favourite leader is making the draft mandatory, I assume that all of you will be signing up to go fight the war in Iran,” Handler continued. “Or do you tough-talking p***ies only go to the Middle East for comedy festivals?” Yikes!
Pete Davidson jokes about Lizzo’s weight loss
Hinchcliffe wasn’t the only one in Davidson’s firing line, with musician Lizzo — who was present at the roast — also catching strays. “What’s left of Lizzo is here,” Davidson said, in reference to the singer’s recent weight loss. Lizzo was seemingly a good sport, since she was seen applauding the joke in the audience.
Tom Brady mentions Kevin Hart’s affair
NFL star Brady got his revenge a few years after being the subject of his own Netflix roast by referencing Hart’s affair, which he admitted to and apologised for in 2017. “I’m a busy man, but I do have a few words for you before I return to my affairs in Las Vegas,” Brady quipped.
“Oh, wait, I’m talking about affairs in Las Vegas. Not supposed to talk about affairs in Vegas? I think I broke another rule,” Brady added.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson goes in on Hart
Hart’s wife, Eniko Hart, was also top of mind for Johnson, a longtime collaborator of Hart’s. “[Eniko] deserves an Academy Award for pretending she likes to f**k you,” Johnson said. There’s a joke in there somewhere about the award being the same height as Hart, but it’s not me up there on the stage (thank god!).

All the cut jokes you didn’t hear in The Roast of Kevin Hart
While those moments all made it to air, there were some too shocking to include in the final version of The Roast of Kevin Hart. We know of these jokes because Madison Sinclair, a comedy writer hired for the roast, recently provided them to Variety. We don’t know who was intended to read them, just who was going to be the recipient.
Lizzo again copped a jab in one of the nixed jokes, which said she “broke barriers when she danced as a stripper in Hustlers, mostly because they weren’t properly enforced”. Also being the butt of a pun joke was Handler, who “you might know for being on E! for over a decade, but she also had a talk show for a while”.
Naturally, Hart was on the receiving end of plenty of cut jokes, including that he’s “such a sell-out [that] even his sex tape had commercial breaks” and that his “build” should’ve made him “better at sneaking around on his wife”.

Those were all the most shocking moments we saw (and ultimately didn’t see) from The Roast of Kevin Hart, and if I were a freshly-roasted Hart, I’d be spending the next few business days in a cold plunge.
Either that, or I’d be signing on to some non-event ‘comedy’ movie that four people will watch. Oop! I couldn’t help but join in. The Roast of Kevin Hart is currently streaming on Netflix.
