There are 26 takeaways and sandwich shops in Leeds with a zero or one-star food hygiene rating.
Following inspections from food safety officers, the venues were told major or urgent improvements were necessary to radically overhaul their current hygiene standards.
Each of the assessments, conducted by Leeds City Council, look at the type of food that is handled, the number and type of customers (for example, vulnerable groups), the types of processes carried out before the food is sold or served, and the hygiene standards seen on the day of the inspection.

There was just one takeaway in the Leeds City Council area with a zero-star food hygiene rating - the lowest score possible.
