We’re not even halfway through the year, but 2026 has well and truly established itself as a fashionable one. The Met Gala just passed, we’ve had the release of the hotly-anticipated The Devil Wears Prada 2, and people have been rocking up to events dripped up in style, from the Australian Open to Coachella. So when The Lyst Index’s Q1 report landed in my inbox, you best believe I clicked straight onto it to find out what people have been searching for.
For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, The Lyst Index is a quarterly report of the trendiest brands and products its 160 million shoppers are searching for and purchasing both on and off the platform. It also takes social media mentions, metrics, activity and engagement statistics worldwide into consideration to track a brand or product’s traction.
The 10 Trendiest Brands For 2026
The top 10 trendiest brands for 2026 (so far) according to the Lyst index include:
- Chanel
- Saint Laurent
- Dior
- Miu Miu
- Gucci
- Ralph Lauren
- Prada
- Coach
- Burberry
- Cos
RIP to those of us who can’t afford designer items, I guess.
One important thing to note is that even though a designer might make the ‘trendiest brands’ section of The Lyst index, that doesn’t necessarily mean its products will also make it onto the ‘trendiest products’ chart. There’s some hope for those of us who don’t have the wallets to match our taste!
The 10 Trendiest Items Of 2026 (So Far)
If you want to look like the coolest girl you know, these are the 10 trendiest items of 2026 so far, as well as their more affordable counterparts. You’re welcome.
1. Saint Laurent Stand Collar Jacket

Funnel necks are everywhere right now. Combine that with the resurgence of streetwear, and you’ve got yourself the gorgeous Saint Laurent Stand-Collar Jacket. It’s a whopping $4,825, so if you’re planning on splurging, make sure it’s something you’ll wear for years to come.

2. Chanel Pumps
Funky shoes are one of 2026’s biggest fashion trends, from tabis to sculptural heels. Chanel’s take on the statement shoe is more in terms of colour — a vibrant aqua contrasting the black that borders the top of the shoe.

3. Adidas Chinese New Year Jacket

This jacket went viral at the beginning of the year. Adidas released its Chinese New Year Jacket to celebrate the Year of the Horse, and it sold out extremely quickly. It’s unfortunately unavailable on Adidas Australia, but there are a few resale sites where it’s available… for a hefty markup.

- While it’s not an exact dupe, Hannovae’s Noire Hanfu Jacket ($267, usually $310) is a similar style that’s available to shop in Australia. And it’s more affordable than the resale price of the Adidas version!
4. Celine Ballet Lace-Up Shoes
Maybe it’s the dancer in me, but when I look at Celine’s Ballet Lace-up Shoes, all I see is jazz shoes. But hey, we had ballet core, so maybe we’re heading into a jazz era?

5. Vivienne Westwood Long Fond Gown

The middle of The Lyst Index’s Trendiest Items list was Vivienne Westwood’s now sold out Long Fond Gown. Either a lot of people had engagement parties or weddings to celebrate, or were going to a LOT of bougie galas and events.

6. Chanel Maxi Flap Bag
While Chanel bags are timeless, the Maxi Flap Bag’s popularity has increased so much, it’s landed itself in the Lyst Index. It comes at a hefty price point (almost $14,000), but they go up in value, so could be a worthy investment.

8. Trader Joe’s Tote Bag
I never thought I’d see the day where a grocery store tote bag makes The Lyst Index, but alas, here we are. Unfortunately, Trader Joe’s isn’t available in Australia, but its Tote Bag has gone viral for being a stylish, every day errands bag.
If you’re desperate for one, there are resellers on eBay, otherwise, there are plenty of Australian brands that have durable, aesthetic totes of their own.

- Paire Comfort Club Tote Bag, $51 (usually $60)
- Muji Wide Canvas Tote Bag, $19.95

9. Village PM 1PM Sneakers

In sneaker land, the reign of the adidas Samba is officially over. Now, Village PM has taken its place with its 1PM Sneakers. They’re a plain canvas sneaker with a funky rubber sole, and a double tongue at the back so it’s extra easy to put on your shoes.

10. Kangol Tropic 504 Flat Cap
Last but not least, we have the Kangol Tropic 504 Flat Cap. These have been huge in men’s fashion, but are unisex, so anyone can style it. Think of it as a cooler beret. The best part? It’s not wildly expensive!
