Thane: Man hires 2 to kill cousin, all 3 arrested

THANE: Daighar police has arrested three persons for allegedly kidnapping and strangulating a 25-year-old man from Waklan village on the behest of his cousin. The police said that accused Pravin Jagtap, 26, and Rahul Suryavanshi 25, were hired by deceased Mangesh Patil’s cousin brother Akshay Patil.

Sachin Gawade, senior inspector, Daighar police station informed that Mangesh had gone missing earlier this month from Waklan village near Daighar. A team of police started the probe and zeroed on calls made to the deceased.

During the probe it was revealed that Akshay had given a contract of Rs 50,000 to kill Mangesh over a property dispute that both families had for the past few years. “The accused had invited Mangesh over for drinks, and had taken him on a long drive, before strangulating him, and dumping his body near Murbad area,” said the police, adding that further probe is underway and a case has been registered at Daighar police station under IPC sections of kidnapping, murder, and criminal conspiracy. — Nishikant Karlikar
