Thailand Post launches new advertising service

Thailand Post has rolled out its first postcard advertising service and started signing up political parties for their upcoming election campaigns.

The firm's advertising postcards will cost 3.50 baht each.

This amount includes the cost of delivery to destination addresses and a made-to-order graphic design to introduce parties' candidates and policies.

The move is the agency's latest service to complement the traditional leaflet or brochure that politicians hire Thailand Post to deliver to residential addresses. The cost of this service is 1.50 baht per address.

According to Dhanant Subhadrabandhu, chief executive of Thailand Post, several well-known parties have already signed contracts to use the advertising postcard service.

However, he declined to elaborate on the targeted revenue of the new service.

"The new service reflects our business initiative that may become a potential revenue stream in the future," he said.

Apart from the new service, Mr Dhanant said Thailand Post had been hired by the Office of the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) to deliver ballots domestically and internationally.

Delivering the ballots nationwide is a cost-based service.

Previously, Thailand Post was hired by the ECT for the 2019 election with a budget of 190 million baht.

Mr Dhanant said earlier that the company recently outlined its 2023 operating plan to become a comprehensive postal and logistics service provider according to international standards through its global cross-border solutions, data-driven transport solutions, and solutions created through partnerships.

The company is also seeking new revenue streams from S-curve services such as non-fungible token stamps.
