Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick criticizes Biden administration's handling of border crisis

302,000 border encounters in December

Border Encounters Reach 302,000 in December, Sparking Concerns over Fence Removal

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick expressed his concerns about the ongoing standoff at the border, as the latest numbers reveal a staggering 302,000 border encounters in December alone. This figure, though slightly lower than the peak in previous years, remains alarming considering the year-to-date count of 785,000 encounters in 2024. These statistics compel many to question the wisdom behind the federal government's plan to tear down portions of the border fence, effectively opening up the area for more unauthorized crossings.

In a visit to Eagle Pass, Lieutenant Governor Patrick took the opportunity to appreciate and support the efforts of the Texas National Guard and DPS troopers stationed at the border. These dedicated individuals have been serving in challenging conditions for extended periods, with limited time off to spend with their families. Lieutenant Governor Patrick voiced his doubts about President Joe Biden's willingness to confront the troops stationed at the border. However, he expressed his relief that the decision was made not to cut the razor wire fencing, highlighting the importance of avoiding any unnecessary confrontations.

Contrary to the comments of White House press secretary Kareem Jean-Pierre, Lieutenant Governor Patrick argued that the Biden administration's policies have hindered the Border Patrol's ability to effectively carry out their duties for the past three years. He emphasized that the rank-and-file border patrol officers are appreciative of the collaboration with Texas and share a mutual goal of ensuring border security.

Lieutenant Governor Patrick strongly denounced the administration's handling of the border situation, accusing President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, and Jean-Pierre of dishonesty regarding the true impact of border policies. He underscored the devastating consequences of illegal immigration, including deaths caused by fentanyl overdoses, drownings in the river, sexual exploitation of women and children, attacks on law enforcement by criminal organizations like MS-13, and innocent Texans and Americans falling victim to drunk driving accidents involving undocumented immigrants.

With frustration mounting, Lieutenant Governor Patrick criticized the administration's lack of action, likening their promises to empty boasts without any substantive results. He called attention to the consistent stream of false information originating from the administration, leaving many Texas residents and Americans questioning the government's commitment to addressing the pressing issues at the border.

As border encounters continue to rise and concerns about border security persist, it is evident that the situation requires immediate attention and effective collaboration between federal and state authorities to find viable solutions. The ongoing debate surrounding the removal of the border fence underscores the need for a comprehensive approach that prioritizes the safety and well-being of both border communities and the nation as a whole.
