Texas EDGE Joseph Ossai says he’s spoken to Titans ‘quite a few times’

The Tennessee Titans are expected to address the defensive side of the ball early on in the 2021 NFL draft and have been pinned to Texas edge rusher Joseph Ossai on more than one occasion.

That’s more than just an analyst projection, though. When I spoke with Ossai after Texas’ Pro Day on Thursday, he told me he’s been in touch with the Titans and will continue to be in the future.

“I’ve spoken to them quite a few times,” he said. “I’ve got a few more interviews coming up with them. I think they’re great. The coaching staff has reached out to me, and I don’t care where they use me at, but, wherever it is, I like the way they want to use me.”

Ossai is confident in his ability to make an impact early on.

“I’m going to try to make an impact my first year… as quick as possible,” he said. “Whether that be on special teams, whether that be starting at a position, whether that be as a captain… those are all goals I have for myself.”

The Titans could certainly use some help on the edge moving forward as they look to elevate the team to a point where it can consistently contend in the postseason, and Ossai could be a piece of that.

It will be interesting to see if the Titans bring him to Nashville when the 2021 NFL draft begins in April.
