Texans re-add QB Alex McGough to practice squad, release TE Keenen Brown

The Houston Texans practice squad is a ten-man unit of endless reshuffling.

On Saturday, the Texans signed quarterback Alex McGough to the practice squad, the team announced. The team waived him earlier in the week to make room for the addition of offensive tackles Chris Clark and Dan Skipper.

A 2018 seventh-round pick out of Florida International, McGough is thought to be a favorite of quarterbacks coach Carl Smith, who coached him for a season with the Seattle Seahawks. He spent training camp and the preseason with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

To make room for McGough, the Texans released rookie tight end Keenen Brown.

A Houston native (Alief Taylor), Brown entered the 2019 NFL Draft after one standout season with the Texas State Bobcats. He reeled in 47 catches for 556 yards and five touchdowns in his lone season in San Marcos. Before then, he was a four-star wide receiver recruit for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
