Texans met with Temple CB Rock Ya-Sin at the Senior Bowl

Make no mistake: The Houston Texans are in search of youth at the cornerback position.

The 2018 AFC South champions met with former Temple Owls cornerback Rock Ya-Sin at the NFL combine in Indianapolis on Sunday, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson.

Ya-Sin is a rather lengthy corner at 6-2, weighing 190 pounds. The Decatur, Ga., native would be a good addition to have in red zone defense and also guarding against bigger receivers.

The Texans could use a youth infusion particularly at cornerback, where starter Johnathan Joseph will be 35 years old come Week 1 of his 14th professional season. Just by subtraction, Houston could get younger at the spot as former 2010 first-round pick Kareem Jackson is currently out of contract. The club is also looking to get out of their exercising of Kevin Johnson’s fifth-year option.

Projections had Ya-Sin going in the second round ahead of the NFL combine. With a deep secondary class, that projection probably will hold even after the underwear Olympics in Indy.
