Texans making donation to MD Anderson Cancer Center

The Houston Texans, like every NFL franchise, have an extremely charitable side to them. On Thursday they displayed this once more, with the Texans PR department announcing that they will be donating to MD Anderson Cancer Center.

This comes after ABC 13 photojournalist Damion Smith was given an opportunity by grocery chain HEB to discuss his experiences fighting throat cancer. Thanks to MD Anderson he was able to beat his disease and is using this platform to invite others to learn of his story and donate to help others in similar situations.

The Texans tweeted that they will be donating in Smith’s name, although they have yet to reveal how much this donation entails. Of course, the organization has past experience of helping those with the disease, after both former safety Andre Hal and former offensive lineman David Quessenberry fought cancer during their time in Houston.

Thankfully both have made a full recovery, and hopefully, with the help of charitable organizations like the Texans, more people will be able to tell their stories of how they beat cancer in the future.
