Texans can still find offensive line help in the draft

The Houston Texans missed out on the Trent Brown sweepstakes as the former New England Patriots left tackle signed with the Oakland Raiders. However, the Texans can still upgrade the offensive line.

According to Rob Rang from NFLDraftScout.com, there are Trent Brown-esque products in the 2019 NFL draft in the Florida Gators’ Jawaan Taylor and Elon’s Oli Udoh.

There is not a tackle in this class who can match Brown’s size [6-8, 380 pounds] but the 6-5, 312 pound Jawaan Taylor possesses an ideal frame for tackle and sports 35 1/8” arms to keep pass rushers at bay. Elon’s Oli Udoh is even bigger (6-5, 323 with 35 3/8” arms) and helped assure scouts that he could handle the jump in competition at the Senior Bowl.

The Texans pick at 23rd overall. Taylor is listed as the top offensive tackle coming out this season by multiple sources, including Walter Football, Draftek, and the Draft Wire, whereas Udoh is getting the “who?” treatment.

How free agency goes will affect how the Texans view the draft. So far, they have used their resources, even if frugally, towards fixing the secondary. Therefore, the club may look to improve the offensive line with their four picks in the top-100.
