Tess Daly divides BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans with early countdown

We may only be in spring but BBC Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly has divided fans with an early countdown to the iconic competition, which typically kicks off in autumn.

The presenter, who hosts the show alongside Claudia Winkleman, will be back in the ballroom overseeing proceedings for series 21 as brand new celebrity contestants take to the floor in a bid to lift the coveted Glitterball Trophy later this year.

And while the competition is still months away, Tess has got many fans excited with a throwback to her Strictly 2022 fittings. Sharing six unseen pictures in dazzling dresses, including a blue sequin gown and a coral two-piece, the star told her Instagram followers: "Found these pics from last years Strictly fitting! only 4 months to go… (not that I’m counting)."

Responding, one fan wrote: "I'm counting with you. Can't wait best programme on tv! You look beautiful in everything you wear," while another added: "We are soooo counting."

Others, however, were keen not to wish the sunshine away. "Let's not wish summer away please, it hasn't even arrived yet," wrote one, while a second said: "Can we have Summer first."

Replying, Tess said: "Definitely not wishing summer away." While the class of Strictly 2023 is yet to be confirmed, BBC bosses have confirmed the judges and professional dancers taking part.

Back on the panel are Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas, while on the dancefloor itself will be Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer and Katya Jones.

As well as Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
