Tesco worker shares Meal Deal hack that will save money and cause less checkout stress

Sometimes, the only thing that will satisfy you at lunchtime is a tasty Meal Deal. With so much choice and so many different combinations to be had, it's no wonder they're basically part of a Brit's staple diet. But what if there was a hack to get them even cheaper? Well, one TikToker and Tesco worker has revealed that there is.

Hannah Lowther, aka @hannahlowther8, shared in her video that the system doesn't just take the cheapest item and make it free - it works out the best deal for you. She revealed that many people go to the checkout with a meal deal, and if they wanted to buy an additional drink, for example, which was cheaper than the one they wanted in the Meal Deal, they were scanning it separately as they wanted the best value for money.

Hannah has said there's no need to do this though, as "our systems will automatically give you the most expensive items in the meal deal." Well isn't that a relief!

She continued: "I don't know if people know this, maybe they do and I'm just being stupid..."

Hannah then went on to share another hack which surprised many.

''And also, if you buy a Reduced sandwich, people think that's not in the Meal Deal.

''But the Reduced sandwiches are in the Meal Deal - if it's still going to be cheaper for you to get the Meal Deal", she told TikTokers.

The video attracted many comments, with some users horrified they'd been wasting their time at the self-checkout.

One wrote: "I've wasted so much time at self-checkouts buying things separately for no reason?!"

"I actually didn't know this - I usually go to self-service to avoid the embarrassment", another admitted.

Someone said: "Good to know, always thought it was the cheapest items that went towards it."
