Amid images of empty shelves and limits being put on certain food items, supermarkets have introduced special shopping times so they can get what they need around their shifts.
Tesco is allowing NHS workers to shop for an hour each day before the store opens to the general public.
Similar schemes are also in place for vulnerable and elderly customers.
As the workers arrived at the Tesco Extra store in Llansamlet, Swansea, this morning, they found staff lining up on either side of the entrance and applauding them.

Many supermarket employees have reported abuse from angry customers as panic grips people during the coronavirus outbreak, something condemned by the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and First Minister, Mark Drakeford.
Some said the were at "breaking point" because of the poor treatment they had from customers.
One worker in Swansea pleaded on social media for people to realise that store employees were not responsible for their being no stock on the shelves.
