Tesco click and collect hint dropped as Ayrshire supermarket is refurbished

One of Ayrshire's biggest supermarkets could be set to introduce click and collect ahead of Christmas.

Tesco Extra in Kilmarnock is currently undergoing a major refurbishment at the moment.

And while both Irvine and Ayr stores both offer the popular online grocery service, Kilmarnock currently does not.

But Tesco bosses have all but confirmed that click and collect will be coming to the West Shaw Street store.

The supermarket giant has just advertised six jobs linked to the service. The Kilmarnock store is currently on the hunt for three temporary, part-time customer assistants for click and collect along with three part-time temporary personal shoppers.

The move could mean that Kilmarnock shoppers could order their Tesco groceries online and pick it up from a designated point at the store.

At the moment, Kilmarnock residents can get shopping from Tesco delivered to their homes.

Work on the store is expected to last for around three months until November 26.

Tesco has been contacted for comment.
