Plant-based seasoning brand Gimme Sabor connects with more gourmet lovers through Temu’s marketplace
When Gimme Sabor set out to revolutionize Spanish cooking with plant-based seasonings, they faced a common startup challenge: reaching beyond their core vegan audience. Now, through a strategic partnership with Temu's marketplace, the innovative food company is bringing its animal-free flavors to mainstream kitchens across Spain.
In Spain, an estimated 3.8 million people follow a vegetarian or mostly vegetarian diet, with younger generations leading the trend. However, it remains a niche market despite its potential.
Gimme Sabor’s early customers came mostly from vegan specialty stores and health-focused retailers. The real challenge wasn’t product quality—it was scale. “We needed to reach a wider audience without diluting what we stood for,” said CEO Victor García Montero. “Temu offered exactly that.”
A Platform That Brings in New Customers
Gimme Sabor joined Temu Spain in early 2025, not to replace its existing sales channels but to complement them and tap into new growth opportunities. “Sales increased by more than 50% week over week during the first few weeks,” said García Montero.
Many of these new customers weren’t actively searching for vegan products. But Temu’s discovery-based curation—combined with authentic user reviews—put Gimme Sabor in front of curious gourmet lovers. With vegan options that perfectly replicate flavors like bacon, cheese, and tuna, the flavor company’s offerings were ripe for mainstream foodies.. “Temu didn’t just give us traffic—it brought us a new type of customer, one we weren’t reaching before.” said García Montero.
Strong Results Backed by a Fast-Growing Platform
Temu is a global e-commerce marketplace known for a wide selection of quality, affordable merchandise. Since last summer, it has onboarded European sellers and enabled local fulfillment, aiming to have 80% of its European sales to come from this local-to-local model —a setup that helps reduce delivery times and give consumers more choices that better reflect local tastes.
According to a 2025 Ipsos survey commissioned by Temu, 78% of Spanish users say the platform offers good value, and 77% would recommend it to others.
This environment proved effective for a startup like Gimme Sabor. In addition to early sales traction, the brand received detailed reviews from customers within days of launching—many sharing creative uses for the seasonings in traditional Spanish dishes like cod fritters and plant-based caviar pearls.
High Standards, Responsive Support
Temu's merchant support team were there throughout the onboarding process. Unlike platforms that rely solely on email, Temu offers 24/7 support via WhatsApp. “We felt well-guided throughout the process,” said García Montero.
“The requirements were very strict—company registration, food safety documentation, allergen certifications—all had to be in order. From our perspective, Temu scores a 10 when it comes to consumer protection,” he added.
From Pandemic Startup to Category Pioneer
Founded in 2022 during the pandemic, Gimme Sabor was started by three partners with backgrounds in culinary development, finance, and marketing. Their mission was simple: to make flavorful, allergen-free cooking easier and more accessible.
“We wanted to offer plant-based alternatives not just for vegans, but for anyone who enjoys food,” said García Montero. “Temu helped us make that leap from niche to mainstream.”
The products are made in collaboration with Spain’s National Food Preservation and Technology Center, and the production facility is certified allergen- and contamination-free. Seasonings are entirely plant-based, with no additives, MSG, or animal-derived ingredients.
Although the team believes in the environmental benefits of plant-based eating, their focus remains on flavor and accessibility. “We design our products for everyday cooking—for people with allergies, or just people looking for something new,” he said.
What’s Next
Gimme Sabor currently sells on Temu Spain and is preparing to expand to more European markets through the platform. “Our long-term goal is to become the leading brand in the plant-based seasoning space,” García Montero said. “We’re still a small company, but platforms like Temu allow us to grow efficiently, without having to change who we are.”
