Temple ad bonanza: HT gets 12 full-page ads, Indian Express features 8

The Ram temple inauguration in Ayodhya has taken over the news cycle in the Big Media, from TV news channels to national news dailies. Amid the buzz, news outlets are also getting a flurry of advertisements from governments as well as consumer brands to mark the consecration ceremony.  

Hindustan Times’s New Delhi edition had 12-full page ads and one half-page ad, among other advertisements. Most of them were sponsored by the UP government. The central government, Chhattisgarh government, Patanjali, Miraj Group, Spicejet and Amul were among other advertisers.      

The Indian Express’s Delhi edition had eight full-page ads on Ram temple, including those by the Chhattisgarh government, Uttar Pradesh government, a yoga trust and a politician. Amul’s ad on Ram temple featured on page 1.

The news daily’s Delhi edition carried a three-pager ad on the Ram temple and the details of the consecration ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, among others. The ad was sponsored by the Uttar Pradesh government. 

The inside pages of the daily featured another set of three full-page ads by the UP government on Ayodhya, sites of attraction, connectivity, and features of the temple. 

A two-page ad was also sponsored by the Chhattisgarh government, featuring a picture of PM Modi and state CM Vishnu Deo Sai. 

Another full-page ad on the last page was sponsored by the New Delhi Traders Association. It announced that the live telecast of the event will happen at Delhi’s Connaught Place. An almost full-page was sponsored by another set of local business persons.

A skybus ad on page 3 was sponsored by the central government. Headlined “Modi sarkar ki guarantee”, the ad said, “Gift of development projects worth thousands of crores rupees to Shri Ayodhya Dham”. Another full-page ad by the central government had a picture of a statue of young Ram and a message by PM Modi. 

A full-page ad by Miraj Group, which is invested in several industries including FMCG and stationery, congratulated on the Ram temple’s inauguration with a picture of the temple and PM Modi.

Another full-page ad by airlines SpiceJet announced a “special sale” or discount offer for bookings made on January 22 “to celebrate the Pran Prathistha at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya”. 

An ad by Amul on page 6 had an illustration of the Ram temple, with the caption, “Temple of a billion hopes, welcome it”.  Meanwhile, FMCG firm Patanjali’s half-page ad on the last page asked readers to take a pledge for swadeshi on the occasion. 

The Indian Express

The first full-page ad in the publication’s Delhi edition was sponsored by the Chhattisgarh government and featured PM Modi and CM Sai, extending “warm wishes”. 

The page 1 of the newspaper featured Amul’s ad welcoming Ram temple and a skybus ad by the central government featuring PM Modi’s picture. The inside pages carried five full-page ads by the Uttar Pradesh government.   

A full-page ad was also sponsored by former MP Sanjay Kakade, and another by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devo Sahaja Yoga Trust.    

The Times of India

The Delhi edition of The Times of India carried a four-page ad by the UP government as front flaps. Another half-page ad by the Yogi Adityanath government featured in the inside pages.   

Two other full page ads were by Miraj Group and SpiceJet.   

A half ad by JK cement in the inside pages said the temple’s consecration was a “new chapter of hope” in the “timeless tale of Bharat”. Another half-page ad by Kirlos said the pipe-fittings company was “celebrating this milestone”. The Chhattisgarh government also sponsored a half-page ad on Ram temple, which said “re-establishishing India’s cultural pride”. 

Two more half-page ads were by Patanjali and Orris Infrastructure. The latter said the company was welcoming the “divine homecoming”. Meanwhile, a quarter page ad by Ashok Singhal Foundation featured on the front page. 

Among the smaller ads were those by Amul, Parmeshwhari Devi Hospital, Dreamland Publications, New Wembley Products, Esson and Amrita Naturals. The publication also carried a skybus ad by the UP government.

The Hindu

The full-page front flap ad on Ram temple in The Hindu’s Delhi edition was sponsored by the UP government. Another full-page ad was by the Chhattisgarh government. The edition carried a half-page ad with a picture of the Ram temple by Navrathan Jewellers. A small ad by Amul also featured in an inside page.
