'Telangana Congress swearing-in ceremony likely on Dec 4 or 9'

HYDERABAD: On Sunday, the Telangana police said that A Revanth Reddy, the state Congress chief, has requested security arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for either December 4 or 9.

Reddy, whose party was comfortably leading to reach the simple majority mark of 60 seats, contacted the state Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar to coordinate security preparations for the upcoming ceremony.

In a discussion with DGP, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), and ADG CID, Reddy mentioned the likelihood of the swearing-in ceremony taking place either on Monday or December 9, as per a statement from the Telangana Police.

Reddy conveyed that his party would soon meet with the Governor to discuss government formation. He pointed out that the auspicious time (Muhurtam) had commenced from the evening and suggested considering the swearing-in function on either December 4 or December 9.

The Congress leader informed the DGP that several chief ministers, former chief ministers, and senior leaders from Delhi would participate in the swearing-in ceremony, scheduled to be held at LB Stadium.

The Telangana Police chief instructed that each winning candidate would be provided with 2+2 Personal Security Officers (PSOs), while senior functionaries would receive a higher level of security. The Security Wing has been tasked with preparing a threat perception report for all elected candidates, as stated by the DGP.

Anjani Kumar conducted a meeting with the Hyderabad Police Commissioner and other senior police officials to discuss and plan effective security arrangements for the upcoming swearing-in ceremony.
