HYDERABAD: The BJP on Saturday reacted sharply to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s conspicuous absence from receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport here, stating while KCR regularly insults the Constitution he is now violating protocols which is “idiotic and shameful.”
Though sources said the CM was not well and suffering from fever as a result of which he could not attend the PM’s programmes at Icrisat and Munchintal, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar strongly condemned the breach of protocol by the CM in not receiving the PM.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad after welcoming the PM, Sanjay wondered what other busy schedule KCR had than accompanying the PM during his visit to the state. “KCR, is this your culture? You claim to have read 80,000 books. Is this what you have learnt from them?” he asked.
Stating that insulting the PM was nothing but insulting the entire nation, Sanjay said KCR was afraid of facing Modi after hurling so many abuses recently. “His behaviour was an affront to the nation,” he said. He sought to remind KCR that the PM had given appointment to the CM whenever he sought for it in Delhi. “Have you forgotten the magnanimity of Modi? How can you confine yourself to your farmhouse by lacking basic courtesy to welcome the PM on his visit to the state?” he questioned.
“It is evident that the CM did not want to show his face to the PM as the entire country was feeling disgusted by his abuses hurled at the PM during his press conference.”
People were laughing at KCR for staying away from the PM’s visit on the pretext of fever. “The fact is KCR has scant regard for democracy. He has insulted BR Ambedkar by calling for redrafting the Constitution. Now, he has insulted the Prime Minister of the country by violating the protocol. What more evidence does one need for his discourteous character?” Sanjay asked.
