Teenager robbed at knifepoint while out on his bike in Kirkby

A teenager was robbed of his mountain bike at knifepoint in Kirkby .

Officers were called to Springvale Close on Friday at just after 7pm. It followed reports that a 15-year-old boy had been out riding his bike when he was threatened by two males.

He was then forced to hand over his bike.

One of the males held a knife to his cheek , causing a minor injury. Although it needed little treatment, it clearly caused the boy distress.

The two made off with the bike towards Tithebarn Lane. CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.

The two males had their faces covered. The bike is described as a white Carrera mountain bike.

Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness said: "We're keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this appalling incident or saw two males walking in the area a short time later in possession of a white Carrera mountain bike.

"The victim has been left understandably shaken by this ordeal and I want to reassure the community and everyone who visits the area with family and friends that we will take action on all information you provide.

"If you have been offered this bike for sale, seen it being ridden in the last few days or know anything about this appalling crime, please come forward so we can identify the offenders and remove them from our streets."
