Teenage boy left with serious face injuries after attack on board Ayrshire train

A teenage boy has been left seriously injured following a brawl on board a train in Ayrshire.

Police were called to Saltcoats station at around 9.25pm last night after reports of the attack on the tracks between the seaside town and Kilwinning.

Cops say the incident left the teenage boy with serious facial injuries.

Services to and from Saltcoats and Kilwinning were affected while British Transport Police were on the scene.

ScotRail confirmed that the line was later cleared at around 10.12pm last night.

Police have now launched a probe into the brutal attack.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers received a report at 9.23pm on Friday 13 November of an assault on board a train between Saltcoats and Kilwinning stations.

"The victim, a teenage boy, sustained serious facial injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
