Teen charged over deaths of two passengers in crash

A teen has been charged over a crash that claimed the lives of two passengers after their vehicle left the road and slammed into a power pole.

Emergency services were called to Windsor Rd at McGraths Hill, in Sydney's northwest, about 9.40pm on January 15 following reports a Nissan 200SX sports car had struck a power pole.

The car's two 17-year-old male passengers were critically injured and died at the scene.

The male driver, also aged 17, was treated for chest and internal injuries before being taken to Westmead Hospital. He was later discharged.

On Tuesday, the driver attended Windsor police station, where he was arrested and charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and two counts of negligent driving occasioning death.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in a children's court on Wednesday.

Police were told the boy's vehicle collided with the rear of a Ford Falcon sedan immediately before it left the road and struck the pole.

The driver of the Falcon stopped to help after the crash and called triple zero.

They also underwent mandatory blood and urine testing.
