Father Ted character Fr Damo will finally settle the the perennial argument about which band is best – Oasis or Blur at the upcoming TedFest.
The scene where the rogue cleric asks Fr Dougal McGuire which band he prefers as the pair play computer games in Craggy Island parochial house is iconic.
Fr Damo (Joe Rooney) says: “Here, which one do you prefer, Oasis or Blur?”
As dimwitted Dougal responds “Blur”, Father Damo asks “WHA?” “Oasis, I mean Oasis!", Dougal hastily adds.
Now, the annual Craggy Cup on Kilronan Beach will try to settle the heated debate once and for all.
The event, which has been a highlight of TedFest since it began in 2007, will be hosted by Fr Damo.
One team competing in the traditional Priests v Nuns 5-a-Side football match will represent the warring Mancunians with the opposition fighting the cause of the Cockney Parklifers.
The last time such a fiercely contested battle occurred at TedFest was the clash between Inis Mór and Inis Oírr as to who would forever more host TedFest.
That too was settled at the Craggy Cup as all great "ecumenical" Tedfest matters are resolved as Inis Mór won 2-1 in extra time.
Another firm favourite Eoin McLove (Patrick McDonell) will also be back to TedFest this year to host Blind Date.
TedFest 2020 will feature copious cups of tea and sandwiches, a lot of red tank-tops, nuns on the run, priests on the pull, map-cap costumes and of course a bishop getting a kick up the arse.
Inis Mór becomes the legendary Craggy Island for a weekend of high-jinx in its 14th year from February 20 to 23 next year.
While the official itinerary for TedFest 2020 hasn’t been announced yet, it has been confirmed that highlights will include the annual Lovely Girls Competition, Ted’s Got Talent, the Father Ted Prizeless Quiz, the Craggy Cup, Priests Dance Off, Blind Date, The Old Grey Whistle Rave – Strictly Nuns in Neon and lots more.
