Faker and Team Mid secured another LCK Season Opening title by successfully defending it against other teams filled with players from the same role, cementing their legacy as the first team to win the event twice.
The League event opened with a new side selection minigame called For Faelights, where all captains were given a simple objective. They had to place two wards in the opponent’s Faelights near the enemy base, with the option to enlist one teammate to help or disrupt rival captains in the race to finish first. Teams experimented with different champions to gain an edge, but Oner’s Pyke proved decisive, as he dominated the minigame and secured the win.
As the winner, he had the power to decide the event’s fixtures and even grant his team a first-round bye. However, in a surprising move, he chose Team Mid as his opponent in the opening match, where a single loss would end either team’s run in the tournament. The logic was straightforward: eliminate the defending champions early and clear the path to the trophy. Team Mid, however, had other plans, winning the match convincingly.
As Team Jungle saw an early exit, Team Mid marched on to play against Team Top and defeated them quite easily, securing their place for the third consecutive time. Team Bot defeated the supports and marched to the finals to face the strongest team of the event.
For the first two matches, Team Mid demonstrated a balanced approach built on disciplined macro play and confident team fighting. Their ability to control the pace of games and punish even the smallest mistakes proved decisive. This event was Lee “Scout” Ye-chan’s first one after he arrived from China’s LPL, and he was incredible in the jungle role in both matches.
The finals saw Team Bot coming out strong with conviction to win the trophy, and they managed to overwhelm Team Mid with their early picks. While Team Mid neutralized some of their picks, Team Bot looked in a great position in the mid-game to win the match with a massive gold and objective lead over their opponents. With three dragons, Team Bot needed just another dragon to get the Chemtech soul, but they kept getting caught by Team Mid and Chovy’s Kai’Sa pick as the ADC was lethal to take down key members to delay that soul.

Ultimately, the fight near the next dragon saw a desperate engage from Team Bot, but it backfired heavily as Team Mid was able to convert their teamfight into the match and take away the finals. As per the yearly tradition, Team Mid gave away 500 League skins to the fans to celebrate their win.
All teams will now turn their focus to the LCK Cup 2026, which begins on January 14, 2026, marking the official start of the new season. The tournament will give squads the chance to test their rosters on the competitive stage and secure a spot in international events.
