Taxi driver robbed and racially abused while dropping off fare

A taxi driver was assaulted and had money stolen from him while on shift this week.

The victim was dropping off passengers in Kirkby, when he was assaulted, had cash stolen and was subject to racist comments.

The incident happened on Wednesday night on Sidney Powell Avenue, West Vale, at around 10pm.

Merseyside police have now arrested two males, aged 16 and 18.

The 16-year-old was detained a short time after the assault at a property on Richard Hesketh Drive.

The 18-year-old was arrested the following day during a stop check on Oak Lane North, Croxteth.

Both of the teens remain under investigation at this time.
