A taxi driver was racially abused and strangled by a passenger in his car.
Merseyside Police were called to Oakfield Road in Anfield at 3.30pm on Thursday, December 15, following reports of an incident in a taxi. Once at the scene officers found a taxi driver who said he was racially abused and then strangled by a passenger he was carrying in his car.
Officers searched for the man, who was found hiding close by and was detained by officers. The victim was left shaken and distressed.

Detectives have now charged Gary Bohanna, 51, of Tavy Road, Everton, on suspicion of racially aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress and intentional strangulation. Bohanna was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Adult Remand Court on Saturday, December 17.
