Tata Steel Q1 Results: Profit rises 15% to Rs 2,318 crore, revenue climbs 14%

Tata Steel reported a 15% rise in consolidated net profit attributable to owners for the June quarter, helped by higher revenue and improved operating performance. The steelmaker posted net profit attributable to owners of Rs 2,318 crore for the quarter ended June 2026, compared with Rs 2,078 crore in the same quarter last year.

Revenue from operations rose 14% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 60,794 crore from Rs 53,178 crore. Sales and income from operations stood at Rs 60,412 crore, compared with Rs 52,744 crore in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, revenue declined from Rs 63,270 crore in the March quarter, while net profit also fell from Rs 2,965 crore.

Tata Steel's total income rose to Rs 61,027 crore in Q1 from Rs 53,467 crore a year earlier. Other income stood at Rs 233 crore, compared with Rs 289 crore last year. Profit before share of profit from joint ventures and associates, exceptional items and tax rose 31% to Rs 4,087 crore from Rs 3,119 crore.

The company reported share of profit from joint ventures and associates of Rs 96 crore, compared with Rs 80 crore a year earlier. Profit before exceptional items and tax stood at Rs 4,183 crore, up from Rs 3,199 crore in Q1FY26.

After exceptional items, profit before tax rose 25% to Rs 3,838 crore from Rs 3,067 crore a year earlier.

Tata Steel reported total exceptional items of Rs 345 crore during the quarter, compared with Rs 132 crore in the same quarter last year. The exceptional items included restructuring, redundancy and other provisions of Rs 318 crore, provision for impairment of non-current assets of Rs 37.25 crore and fair value gain on non-current investments of Rs 10 crore.

In the March quarter, total exceptional items stood at Rs 340 crore.

Total expenses rose to Rs 56,940 crore from Rs 50,347 crore a year earlier. Cost of materials consumed increased to Rs 20,186 crore from Rs 18,028 crore. Purchases of stock-in-trade rose to Rs 5,182 crore from Rs 3,948 crore.
