Tap & Run fire service update after flames rip through Stuart Broad's Nottinghamshire pub

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have issued an update after a huge fire tore through a pub co-owned by England cricket star Stuart Broad. The fire, first reported at 3.22am at The Tap & Run, broke out in the roof and first floor of the gastropub - also co-owned by former Nottinghamshire seamer Harry Gurney - on Saturday morning (June 11).

The fire service confirmed that the fire had now been put out but officials said that they will be back throughout the day to make sure this stays the case. The cause of the fire is thought to have been accidental, emergency services added.

A tweet, posted by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue on Saturday afternoon, read: "The fire is completely out but we'll be back throughout the day to make sure it stays that way. Believed to be an accidental fire. Main Road is open."

Broad and Gurney launched the Cat and Wickets Pub Company in 2016 along with friend and experienced pub manager Dan Cramp. The Tap & Run was formerly known as The Golden Fleece, which had been closed for two years prior to the Cat and Wickets taking it on - it reopened as the Tap & Run gastropub in September 2018.

Mr Gurney told Nottinghamshire Live: "We are obviously devastated but relieved that there was no loss of life. We are so sorry that we will be unable to honour any bookings for the foreseeable future and sorry for any distress that the fire has caused to villagers. We will keep everyone updated on social media in the coming days and weeks."
