Tanker booking ops hit in Hyderabad due to govt IT infra upgrade

HYDERABAD: With server upgradation being initiated by the Telangana government, hundreds of consumers who booked water tankers on Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) portal and mobile app have suffered delays.

On normal days, the water board used to receive 600 to 900 tanker booking requests, but on Saturday, it dipped to less than 600, HMWS&SB sources revealed to STOI. Currently, 75 filling stations were working and nearly 800 tankers were serving people across the state, the sources added.

HMWS&SB customers can book a tanker either on the water board’s portal (www.hyderabadwater.gov.in), mobile app or by dialling 155313, which run a call-centre Metro Customer Care’(MCC). On Saturday, except MCC, the remaining two systems were defunct as the to servers were shut, the sources said.

Soon after MCC was flooded with complaints on customers not able to book tankers and inordinate delay in delivery tankers, the water board officials swung into action and tried to clear all bookings received through MCC by forwarding e-POS machines to filling stations concerned. “We are monitoring the situation and ensuring to deliver every tanker at the doorstep of the consumer,” a water board official said.HMWS&SB’s servers would be shut until 9 pm on Sunday.
