Tamil Nadu: Two revenue officials held for taking bribe

MADURAI: DVAC Tuticorin has arrested two revenue officials for demanding Rs 3 lakh bribe for issuing an NOC. A DVAC statement said the Tuticorin detachment laid a trap for Senthil Murgan, revenue inspector (RI), Kulathur, after he demanded bribe for issuing NOC to sell the free land given by the government to the complainant and his family.

In 2004, they had received about 10.95 acres of land in Kulathur East village. The RI directed the complainant to hand over the bribe amount to the village administrative officer of Kulathoor, Umesh Kumar.

During the trap proceedings, Umesh Kumar, on the direction of Senthil Murugan, and having full knowledge that it is bribe money, received Rs 3 lakh from the complainant. Both the accused were arrested.
