Tamil Nadu: Boy in khaki takes commissioner’s seat

CHENNAI: It was a special occasion on Tuesday for A Charalathan, a special subinspector of police from Red Hills station, as he was retiring from the force. However, the centre of attraction at the event was his four-year-old grandson, so much so that Avadi police commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore made the boy sit on the CoP’s chair.

Charalathan with 36 years in service was among the six police officers who retired from the Avadi commissionerate on May 31. M Pranav, Charalathan’s grandon who was walking around in the hall on a police uniform, caught the eyes of commissioner Rathore who made the boy sit on his chair and posed with him.

“I promised to get him a uniform to wear at my retirement. When the time has come for me to take it off, he wants to wear one,” Charalathan said.
