CHENNAI: The appointment of R N Ravi has triggered mixed reactions in political circles.
While chief minister M K Stalin and leader of the opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami welcomed the appointment, TNCC president K S Alagiri alleged the BJP, which was rejected by the people of Tamil Nadu, was trying to intimidate the state government using the new governor. VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan, another DMK ally, demanded that the Centre withdraw the new governor, who had had a stint in IB.
Alagiri said, “The BJP is trying to disrupt political activities in TN and develop the party (BJP) in the state through antidemocratic means. I think the allegation that the Modi government is trying to use Ravi as a dice for this is 100% just”. PMK leader S Ramadoss said the new governor should support Tamil Nadu government’s initiatives on various fronts.
