Talking Point: What restrictions should be put in place to curb Covid cases?

Boris Johnson came under pressure from business chiefs today, who urged the PM to reimpose certain Covid restrictions amid skyrocketing UK cases.

The intervention came after Health Secretary Sajid Javid suggested cases could reach 100,000 a day - and figures today recorded a jump to 52,009 cases and 115 deaths.

Richard Burge, chief executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “It is deeply concerning that the Government has taken such a passive stance towards the rising rate of Covid-19 infections. Indecision is our greatest enemy in the fight against this disease... decisive action needs to be taken now to avoid more severe restrictions in the months ahead.”

What restrictions do you think should be imposed? Should masks be made mandatory indoors? Should people be advised to work from home again? Should households be discouraged from meeting indoors?
