The 10-furlongs maiden race at Lingfield today could turn out to be more informative than is usually the case with all-weather contests, for it contains two Derby entries, Montevetro and Rock Peak (4.40). The market will be an obvious guide, with Geoff Wragg's Monterrico another leading player, but Rock Peak looks the one. Hughie Morrison's colt caught the eye when a strong-finishing fourth behind Silver Regent on his only start over a mile at Sandown last season.

Maslaha (4.10) was an easy winner over this course and distance two weeks ago, and Michael Jarvis's filly looks up to defying a mark of 80 in the 7f handicap at Lingfield. Over jumps at Wincanton, Kiltimoney (3.20) will find the test of stamina right up his street in the 3m3f chase.
