Some interesting action on the jumps front today but the best bet of the afternoon is on the sand at Southwell where Elusive Warrior (2.50) looks poised to get back to winning ways. The selection is a dual course-and-distance winner on the unique Fibresand track where previous experience is often an important advantage. He shaped well over six furlongs last month when a never-nearer fifth to Trinculo and the step up to seven is ideal. Everything looks in place for a big run from him today.
Sasso (2.30) at Ludlow is the other suggestion today. There are doubts concerning the ground and the distance for the selection's main dangers in the novice chase but not about Sasso, who triumphed easily over track and trip last time. That was on a firmish surface but he has winning form with cut in the ground and should go well under champion jockey Tony McCoy.
