Trappy races everywhere today, none more so than in the feature contest, the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown in which there are reasons for opposing all the principals. There is no need to bet on the headline events and this looks best left alone. Hardy Eustace was tempting to put up but he's the Pricewise selection in the Racing Post and for that reason could well shorter than the general 4-1 this morning.
1.20pm Pomme Tiepy is the best bet on a fascinating card in Ireland. She gets a handy sex and age allowance from her rivals here but already has form good enough to match them. She was impressive at Thurles last time out and has the peerless Ruby Walsh in the saddle. Put her in a double with 2.50pm Laredo Sound over jumps at Southwell. The selection was a Listed-grade performer on the level and will appreciate the drop back in trip today having patently failed to stay in the mud at Folkestone last time.
