Talented Wicklow beauty influencer Jayda McCann tragically dies aged 24 after cancer battle

Irish beauty and well-being influencer Jayda McCann has sadly died after bravely battling incurable cancer.

The 24-year-old from Greystones, Co Wicklow, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called PEComa, which initially started in her vulva but quickly spread to her lungs.

A statement on her Instagram Stories read: "Just want to update you all on Jade's situation; Jade passed away peacefully in her sleep this morning at 5.10am.

"We will put up a post in the near future with more details regarding her passing but for now her family would appreciate privacy until everything is in order. Thank you all for your support and continued kindness."

Friend and colleague John Connors has also paid tribute to the young woman online saying:“I woke up this morning to the news that my dear good friend Jade McCann has passed away in the early hours of the morning.

"Jade had talent to burn and unlimited potential for life. She was an incredible singer, song writer and she was so articulate and charismatic too. She could of made it big in a number of careers.

“She was a warrior in every sense of the word and fought hard to the end. Myself and my friend @tiernanwill1 have been documenting Jade and her family's story the past 18 months.

"This documentary film is for her and is a part of her very important legacy. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jade's mother, father, brother, boyfriend and the rest of her loved ones who are missing her today.

"I'll never forget you Jade and the great times we had. My performance tonight onstage is for you x Rest in peace my friend. XXX”.

Speaking to RSVP in the past, Jade said:"I got my first diagnosis in March (2018) and found out that it spread to my lungs on the 4th of July.

"Doctors thought I had leiomyosarcoma, [a form of cancer] which is found in older women, because it started in my vulva,” Jayda told RSVP Live.

“I sent the tumour away to London to be retested because there is no sarcoma specialist in Ireland.”

“They came back and said it was PEComa, an extremely rare form of sarcoma. I’m the only person in the country with it as far as I’m aware.”

Jade, who went by Jayda across her social channels where she has nearly 60,000 followers, explained how she’s coping with the fact her cancer is sadly incurable, and is open to different methods of treatment.

She said: “There’s not really any getting rid of this. We can’t surgically remove it, so we’re going to try keep it at bay for as long as we can.”

“I’m on a drug now Sirolimus at the moment which we’ll know by January if it’s working or not, but I’m also doing my own alternative things.

“I go to a healer, I’ll take THC, I’m kind of experimenting - I never would have done anything like that before but when you’re in this situation you’ll do anything.”
