Takeaways and observations from Eagles adding CB Bradley Roby to practice squad

The Eagles appear ready to move James Bradberry back to the outside cornerback spot, and with the team looking toward the postseason, they’re signing Bradley Roby to play the nickel spot.

Roby spent the past two seasons with the Saints, and his signing could signal James Bradberry returning to the outside cornerback spot or Josh Jobe seeing fewer snaps.

In preparation for Sunday against the Rams, we’re looking at takeaways and observations from the move.

Roby allowed a 62.2 passer rating in coverage last season, with opposing quarterbacks completing
51.4% of their passes targeting him.

The former Ohio State cornerback has played in 126 NFL games with 60 starts and has played in the slot, and on the outside.

The injury to Maddox threw things off, but once Roby gets into game shape, the Eagles’ secondary will round back into form, with personnel playing in preferred spots.

Bradberry has played in the slot the last two games, and although Bradberry excelled, Jobe showed that he’s not quite ready for primetime in the overtime win to Washington.

Philadelphia has Super Bowl aspirations, and Jobe’s development, along with Mario Goodrich’s and Eli Ricks’s will have to wait.
