Takeaway orders rose by 5,000 percent in Nottingham over last decade

Most of us are partial to a takeaway, especially at the weekend - but who would have imagined Nottingham's lust for pizza, curry and fish and chips has rocketed by more than by 5,000 percent over the last decade?

A whopping 5,696 percent to be exact, according to online food ordering platform Just Eat.

In the last year, takeaway orders in Nottingham rose by 15 per cent (2019-2020) but that's not surprising with restaurants closed for months due to the pandemic.

However, it's not all bad news for the population's waistlines, since healthy food orders have risen by 3,441 percent since 2015 and by 332 percent in the last year.

Even though there's everything from chicken, burgers, sushi, kebabs and desserts to Thai, Chinese, Italian, Nigerian and Mexican available to order, there's a runaway winner as far as Nottingham food lovers are concerned.

The one takeaway we can't get enough of is pizza, accounting for more than a quarter of all orders. In fact, it has been the city's most popular takeaway since 2013, when it knocked Chinese food off the top spot.

Nottingham's top ten takeaways:

1. Pizza

2. Chinese

3. Indian

4. Fish and chips

5. Chicken

6. American

7. Desserts

8. Kebabs

9. Italian

10. Curry

Just Eat sifted through a decade of the nation's takeaway orders and their new 'Takeaway Race’ findings reveal the UK’s favourite eats when it comes to ordering in.
