Take That star Howard Donald shares bizarre Instagram photo with David Bowie edited in

Take That member Howard Donald has shared a bizarre photo on Instagram that replaces Gary Barlow’s face with that of David Bowie.

In the caption accompanying the image, which also features Take That’s Mark Owen, Donald claims he spent time with the late musician and cultural icon.

He wrote: “For sure I was very nervous meeting @davidbowie as I’m not so comfortable around other famous people and can get star struck quite easily, but he was so normal and down to earth which made me feel at ease. Plus it was an opportunity I was never gonna miss and so glad I had the balls to ask.”

A Twitter user has since pointed out that Bowie’s face has been superimposed onto the original image, which actually shows Donald, Barlow and Owen at the launch of the musical Finding Neverland in New York in September 2015.

Donald has not responded to comments from his baffled followers on Instagram.

Donald’s recent post comes just weeks after he shared a string of strange tweets related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, in which he railed against the requirement to wear facemasks.

Take That formed in 1989 and enjoyed huge success until Robbie Williams left in 1995.

When the band split in February 1996, Donald’s attempts to launch a solo career were unsuccessful. He later revealed he considered suicide after the band's split.

In late 2006, Take That reformed and Williams later rejoined in 2010 for the band's sixth studio album, Progress.
