The Long Walk is a beautiful adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, written under his pen name Richard Bachman. And now fans can get excited about the home release of the Francis Lawrence film!
We’re very happy to share exclusive images from the film of Ray Garraty (Cooper Hoffman) as he is saying goodbye to his mother (Judy Greer). In The Long Walk, boys from all 50 states participate in a walk across the country that lasts until there is only one boy left standing. The idea is simple: Walk at 3 mph and never stop.
You don’t get breaks, you can’t stop to go to the bathroom, and you just need to move. It can last for weeks and it isn’t easy on the boys thrown into it and it is one of King’s harder stories to unpack. Which is what makes Ray’s goodbye to his mother so bittersweet.

In the film, Ray goes on the Long Walk to both honor his father as well as prove himself. But as with any boy who goes on the walk, there is no guarantee that he’ll make it home alive. And Ray’s relationship with his mother is an important part of the film as a whole.

But it is obvious how much she loves her son and how worried she is for him when he says goodbye to her, crying by their car and even, later in the film, coming to see him when they’re by his hometown.

But still, Ray has to embark on this journey that is quite literally life or death and it is through his strength and determination that the audience experiences the fear and the power of the walk.

The Long Walk is now available on Digital, Blu-ray™, and DVD! A 4K UHD combo will also be available on December 23!
